My Five Reasons for Wet Felting in the Summer

14/8/2017

As far as I'm concerned, summer is the best time for wet felting! Why?

Here are my top five reasons:
  1. We use water for felting so our hands are constantly wet and that cools us off on hot summer days.
  2. In the summer, we can felt outdoors - on the terrace, in the garden … so the excess water can drip directly to the ground. Fun!
  3. At higher daily temperatures, wet wool cools down slower during felting, so the products are finished faster, using less warm water.
  4. Days are long - we can take on the time-challenging projects and finish them in one day.
  5. In the summer, after felting, the products dry quickly in the open air, in the sun and in a warm summer breeze.

Can you think of any other reason for the felting in the summer?

I wish you a nice creative summer!
Ps: Felted products, in contrary to the general belief, are ideal for the summer too - as wool, which is a great insulator, also protects us against heat, and 'breathes' nicely at the same time.
