Winter Workshops - Felting Basics and Felting with Alpaca Wool

Welcome to the Amuse Studio for two wet-felting classes in February 2020.

On Friday, February 7, the Basics Wet-felting Workshop will be held in the afternoon, and on Saturday, February 8, you can attend an one-day Alpaca Wool Workshop.

You can attend both or just one wet felting workshop.

The workshop is suitable for all those who want to understand the process of wet felting, learn wet-felting more in-depth and in the future be able to create felt products yourself.

As the name implies, we will learn the basics of wet felting at the workshop - for beginners. We will create a sitting mat.

We will produce a flat, compact felt product in the desired size, shape and thickness. No zero waste, no pleated edges, no surprises - total control of the process.

We will learn how to properly spread the carded wool, differently lay the fibers according to the desired result, different fibers that can be combined with the wool and offer many effects, etc.

The basics of wet felting

Dates: Friday, February 7, 2020 at 3:00 PM. Duration: approx. 4 hours.

The master will guide you through the process of wet felting, presenting you with different types of wool and other fibers suitable for felting, basic tools and wet felting techniques. You will learn more about the history of felting and modern felting products.

You will be able to use the sitting mat as a warm pillow for a chair or a floor.

Price: 50 eur per person (discounts listed below) - all material is included in the price, bring the product home with you.

With the knowledge gained, you will be able to create many different products at home. This workshop provides a good basis for participating in continuing courses.

The number of places is limited, applications are required.

Felting with alpaca wool

On Saturday, February 8, 2020, we will get to know alpaca wool. This cute animal has a beautiful hair. wool, which is highly regarded in the world and is also suitable for felting.

There will be three natural colors of alpaca carded wool: white, brown and dark brown, which also differ in the softness of the fibers. Of course, you can also combine them with sheep wool and other fibers.

We will produce woolen vessels or bowls for indoor plants in different color combinations, sizes, shapes ...

Workshop schedule:
9.30 am - 10 am ... registration, payment
10 am - 1 pm ... workshop
1 pm - 2:30 pm ... lunch (studio will be closed)
2.30 pm - 5.30 pm ... workshop

82 eur per person (discounts listed below) - all material is included in the price, you will bring the items that you make at the workshop home with you.

Other info:
This is an advanced workshop - It is recommended that you have already learned the basics of wet felting before this workshop.

The workshop is suitable for adults and children from 10 years of age (accompanied by an adult or the ability to work independently for several hours).

Limited  number of places in the workshop,  registration is required.

This workshop will include:

• learning about the differences between alpaca and sheep wool
• learning about the characteristics of alpaca fibers
• wet felting from alpaca wool
• felting with wool in top / sliver
• felting of a three-dimensional object without cutting and sewing
• the basics of tailoring a seamless wet felting item
• control of the size of openings in felting
• creating a uniform thickness of felt
• creating a flat felt surface on a 3-d object
• combining alpaca wool with sheep wool and other fibers
• combining wool from top/sliver and fleece
• calculation of shrinkage factor
• the proper making of an enlarged felting pattern
• hardening of felt products
• removal of excess fibers from felt products
• drying of felt products
• maintenance of felt products
• etc.
