Family Workshop

Felting is a deeply tactile experience that especially enchants children. In this family workshop, we will intertwine palms, soapy water, and colorful wool. This is precious time for family bonding, where unique products full of childhood pride and warmth emerge under nimble fingers. You can display the final piece in your home as a reminder of the relaxed atmosphere spent with your loved ones.

The workshop is open to families – children, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles... At least two family members must participate together (at least one adult and one child). You can choose to create a family "wool painting" or small felted bowls.

Felted Hobo Bag with Leather Straps – New Model of Handbag

A workshop for those who want to try something new. This time, we will felt a new model of a bag—a slouchy "hobo" shape with leather handles. We will explore seamless 3D shaping, play with textures, and create a fashion accessory that is not just functional but a piece of fiber art. We will felt the bag using high-quality wool tops with added nettle, flax, and hemp fibers to create an intriguing surface.

As this is a full-day workshop, we will take a 1-hour lunch break around 1:00 PM.

Suitable for: Adults and teens (14+). No prior knowledge required.

Cobweb Scarf

Learn how to create a delicate, thin, and soft "cobweb" scarf. In addition to premium merino wool, we will use other natural fibers that add luster and a sophisticated structure to the scarf—ideal for spring days.

Suitable for: Adults and teens (14+). No prior knowledge required.
Price: €95 per person.

Emphasis on Sample Exploration: Most of our sessions will be dedicated to creating various felt samples using the shibori technique. We will learn how to make proper pre-felt and shibori felt, experimenting with different base wools, as well as combinations with fabrics and non-wool fibers.

​Personal Sample Book: Each created pattern will find its place in a folder or box—your permanent professional manual and a source of future inspiration.

Shibori Landscape Picture: We will round off our acquired knowledge by creating a final piece. Throughout the course, we will develop a concept, determine the composition, and select textures for a felted picture with a landscape motif.

Group Exhibition: We will conclude our journey with an exhibition of the created works.

7 sessions (5 Thursdays + 1 Saturday + exhibition opening).
For the best experience and to ensure the completeness of your final piece, attendance at all sessions is recommended; however, the program allows you to join even if you miss a session.

WHO IS IT FOR: Adults and youth (aged 14+), who seek an in-depth and inspiring creative experience in small groups.

DIFFICULTY: Suitable for beginners as well as those wishing to upgrade and deepen their wet felting skills. No special manual skills are required for this technique. Wet felting is a manual activity where we create felt using water and soap.

MENTORSHIP: The course will be led by master wet felter Anja Musek from Atelje Amuse.

LOCATION: Kreativnice (Spodnji trg) and Atelje Amuse (Cankarjev trg), Škofja Loka.

Admission is free!
Registration is required at anja@musek.eu from August 8th until the places are filled. Children should speak English or Slovene. When registering, please indicate the child's age and any special needs, as well as the contact information of the parent or guardian (e-mail and phone number).
By registering your child, you agree that photos and videos taken during the workshop may occasionally be used to present and promote creative events by Amuse studio and the Pisana Loka festival.

As mentioned, at this type of workshop, you choose the product yourself, which is made in the wet felting technique from carded wool with the possibility of adding nettle, silk, viscose, linen, bamboo, hemp and other fibers.

You can learn the basics of wet felting or make a felt soap, brooch, necklace, purse, slippers, bowl, nuno scarf, mesh scarf, cobweb scarf, pillow cover, book cover, cat's den, hat, beret or some other felt product. If you can't decide what to make on a certain date, a suggestion is also attached to each of the dates.

The groups are small and despite the fact that everyone in the group may be making something different, we will take enough time so that you take away a lot of new knowledge and a beautiful and quality product.

Workshop price: €35 – €135 (for most products around €95) depending on the chosen project

Private workshops for closed circle of people
Lately, there is a lot of interest in felting in a 'closed' group - a bubble - when several people (friends, relatives, co-workers, etc.) agree to make a certain product (it can also be different products whose production requires about the same time). If you are interested in this kind of workshop, please contact me and we will arrange an appointment that will suit us all.

This workshop will not be made public - we will not be accepting external participants into the group. Such workshops can be conducted in the Amuse studio or at your location.

Individual workshops
Individual learning of wet felting also continues to be available. It is intended for an individual participant who wants to learn felting, individual felting techniques (or several techniques) or an individual (possibly more demanding) product in depth. The price depends mainly on the duration of the individual workshop, which can be half a day, 1 working day or several days.

1 - Make an item of your choice on a specific date
There are a few pre-set dates for workshops where you will be able to make a Felt item of your choice, as it was possible every summer. There are a few dates that we will update if necessary (so return to this page several times, where new dates will be published constantly). Small groups will be formed, there will be enough time to create different products.

2- Workshops for closed groups
When several people (friends, relatives, co-workers, etc.) manage to agree on creating the same felt item (it can also be different items whose production requires about the same time), please contact me and we will agree on a date that will suit us all. This workshop will not be made public - we will not accept external participants into the group. Such workshops can be conducted in the Amuse studio or at your location.

3 - Thematic courses
Several thematic courses will be proposed without pre-determined dates. The dates of the meetings will be determined with all interested parties of a certain course. The courses will include several meetings (eg three days in a row), where you will systematically and without haste acquire the knowledge of felting for a special technique or more demanding item in a small group (maximum 3 participants) and through several meetings.

The first proposed course is to make a simpler piece of clothing in a cobweb technique (e.g. top, tunic).

4 - Individual workshops
I will continue to conduct individual workshops. They are intended for an individual participant who wants to learn wet felting, individual felting techniques (or several techniques) or an individual (possibly more demanding) item in depth and adapted to him. The price depends mainly on the duration of the individual workshop, which can be half a day, 1 working day or several days.

5 - Handicraft experiences ‘Handicraft experiences Hands make magic!'
In the most picturesque city in Slovenia, we are proud of the thousand-year-old handicraft tradition, which has always gone ‘hand in hand’ with innovations in technology. Every day from Wednesday to Sunday, you can enter the studios of Škofja Loka artisans and attend one of three types of handicraft experiences at uniform prices:
1.5 hour Handicraft workshop; at 11am, 38 euros per person
45 min Creative demonstration; at 5pm; 23 euros per person
20 min Intro visit; at 7pm; for free
 
I will also host all three experiences in the Amuse studio, mostly on Wednesdays. At the handicraft workshop we will make felt soap, at the creative demonstration I will present how to make a cobweb fabric, and during the intro visit we will take a quick walk through the history of the wet felting and get to know contemporary wet felting creations.

6 - VAWAA - vacation with the creator
Stay in Škofja Loka a little longer (4 days - 20 hours), in the Amuse studio, dive into the technique of wet felting and create your own piece of clothing in the desired technique.
In the afternoons and evenings, take a walk around Škofja Loka and its surroundings, meet other artisans, hang out with the locals, taste the local cuisine, visit the rich cultural and other events of Škofja Loka.

Due to special conditions and frequently changing measures, I have adapted the methods of conducting in-person wet felting workshops and courses.

The workshops will be led by felting artist Anja Musek, holder of the Art & Craft of Slovenia certificate. They will take place at the premises of the AMUSE Studio, Cankarjev trg 6, Skofja Loka, Slovenia.

In October, you are warmly invited to two workshops in the Amuse wool studio, in the old town center of Skofja Loka, Slovenia. On Friday, the 18th we will learn how to make a flat felt surface - a sitting mat. The very next day - on Saturday, 19th you will bring home a beautiful soft and thin cobweb scarf. Attending both workshops will give you a unique inside of the range of products that can be made with wet-felting (and of course you will get a discount for attending both).

Wet felting is a relaxing technique and that is why socializing in the Amuse studio is both enjoyable and rewarding :) Groups are small and we always take the time to have a short chat over tea and cookies. You can attend the workshops alone or with a friend, partner, child, etc.
